Good morning…
Some darkness is so very dark, we are rendered speechless. A friend in our Friday group shared this Thomas Merton quote before terrorists slaughtered innocents in Israel.
When I am liberated by silence,
when I am no longer involved
in the measurement of life, but in the living of it,
I can discover a form of prayer in which
there is effectively no distraction.
My whole life becomes a prayer.
My whole silence is full of prayer.
The world of silence in which I am immersed
contributes to my prayer.
– Thomas Merton, Life and Holiness
When adequate words cannot be found, the world of silence immerses us. Liberated from measurements and distractions, our whole life becomes a prayer. With heavy hearts, we “come to rest” with God on behalf of the terrified, the vulnerable, the grieving.
You hear us pray in words and silence; all humanity comes into Your presence (Psalm 65:2, VOICE). From across Your globe, we “come to rest” in Your powerful presence, silently praying for Your bonding peace to somehow transform everything.
