Good morning…
As I write it is dark, it is wet, it is windy, with Georgia being the second state in Hurricane Michael’s path. When light dawns on this day, what widespread devastation will be revealed?
Whatever we face, we face together with God.
Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out: “I took on the troubles of the troubled” (Romans 15:1-3, MSG).
Living like Jesus, strengthened by God’s Spirit, in times of trouble we wade in to help out. With troubles abounding whenever we wake, wherever we are, what answer do you sense when you ask today, “God, how can I help?”
…Sue…
P.S. If you feel compelled to share how you feel nudged to “wade in and help out” today, I will compile anonymously the responses of our online community, and God’s living presence will be felt on earth as it is in heaven.
