Good morning…

Waking this morning at 3:24 am, I google “When is sunrise in Palm Beach, Florida?” The answer is “6:40 am.” For three delightful hours, I will enjoy silence and solitude with God on this Sabbath morn before I walk out to the sand and do a photo shoot on my phone with the rising sun.

Why do I tell you this?

This is a wedding weekend, the second ceremony performed by my husband on back to back Saturdays. Yet, wherever we are, morning after morning, you and I each wake into oneness with our First Love. Sometime we wake into deep darkness wondering, “When will the sun rise?” Other times the shining sun streams through our window to coax us from sleep. Whether we wake into dark or light, how many seconds, minutes, hours of silence and solitude do we delight in with God before we waltz together into whatever the day holds?

Thank the miracle-working God,
His love never quits.
The God whose skill formed the cosmos,
His love never quits.
The God who laid out earth on ocean foundations,
His love never quits.
The God who filled the skies with light,
His love never quits.
The sun to watch over the day,
His love never quits.
Moon and stars as guardians of the night,
His love never quits (Psalm 136:4-9, MSG).

As our conscious awareness opens our eyes, might our first thoughts each day be shared with our miracle-working God whose love never quits?
