flag

Good morning…

During this tumultuous time when so many flags are flying at half staff, we set aside a day to remember those who have sacrificed their lives to defend the freedom we cherish. Men and women. Young and old. People with varying skin color, economic status, family history. The impact of war ripples out to reshape us.

“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved,” says author Anne Lamott. “But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”

Today we take time to say, “I will remember you.” On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night (Psalm 63:6, NIV).

As you watch the touching video below, who are you personally drawn to remember today?
