Good morning…

The Spirit of God continues to speak. Isaiah 50:10b-11 (NIV) sheds more Light on this portion of our path. Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment. When we go our own way, from the hand of God we are gifted with torment. Torment itself is not necessarily bad. Torment can be very, very motivating.

God designed each one of us. God sees, knows, and loves us all, unconditionally. In a Masterful move, our creative Creator hardwired each heart with a homing device. When we stray far away from God’s life-giving path, we feel torment. We can choose to light our own fires, trying to manufacture our own flaming torches, setting ablaze our own selfish desires, but torment is ours when our head hits the pillow. Torment is our choice. Powerful peace would be God’s choice for us.

There may come a day when we get tired of lying down in torment. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you (John 14:20, NIV). One day our inner eyes may inch their way open. Might we realize, AH-HA, God is in me and I am in God? On that day, our torment will have given God’s greatest gift.

From that day forth, might we choose to put our feet first on the path of God’s choosing, morning after morning? The peaceful freedom for which we were designed is reborn on the day we totally trust in the name of the LORD, really relying on the Redeemer of every living thing.

Until that decisive day, we will lie down in torment.
