Good morning…

The morning after the U.S. 2020 election results were confirmed by blending the voices from red and blue states, I woke up to a text.

“Good morning!” wrote a forever friend. “This story made me think of you! We all need some violets in our world right now!!!” Then I read aloud to myself the pages she copied for me, the January 7th pages from Streams from the Desert.

Then, looking up from the page, my eyes were drawn out the window to witness our God painting a warm violet sunrise. In deep delight, I captured this photo on my iPhone. After a dark day wrought with division, our Creator visually whispered, “Red and blue blend to light My pathway forward.”

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth (Psalm 19:1-6, NIV).

Nothing and no one is deprived of the warm presence of God. Yellow. Orange. Pink. Red and blue blend to make purple. Each color plays an integral part in this spectacular sunrise. Every shade in the sky and the unique shades of each person are designed to follow the advice of the violet.

Others may do a greater work,

     But you have your part to do;

And no one in all God’s family

     Can do it as well as you.

Take a moment to ponder with me, “What part is mine to do in God’s healing work on earth? How might I play my unique part better and better, morning after morning, sunrise to sunset?”
