Good morning…
“I will lead the blind by a way they do not know; I will guide them in paths that they do not know,” God said through Isaiah 42:16 (AMP) to end yesterday’s blog post. “I will make darkness into light before them and rugged places into plains. These things I will do [for them], and I will not leave them abandoned or undone.”
The words “abandoned” and “undone” are both highly charged emotionally.
Think of a time when you felt “abandoned.” Deserted and discarded. Forsaken and forgotten. Vacated and left void, empty, alone. What trusted persons have taught you what betrayal feels like?
When have you felt “undone” by life? Foiled and frustrated. Defeated and destroyed. Beaten and betrayed, thwarted, sagging. When your own plans unraveled, what happened next?
Many of us will never experience physical blindness, but all of us will be blindsided at times by people we trust. The life path we envisioned becomes littered with unforeseen roadblocks. In these lonely moments, might we personalize the experience of the Scripture above?
“I will lead you, abandoned and undone, by a way you do not know,” God whispers in our vulnerable ear. “I will guide you in paths that you do not know. I will make darkness turn to light before you. I will soften rugged places into smooth plains. These things I will do personally for you. I will not leave you feeling abandoned and undone.” Then I will gather you to Me as My people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am the Eternal who rescued you from the heavy load (Exodus 6:7a, VOICE).
Abandoned and undone by this wounding world, we are gently gathered and rescued. Found and equipped, we walk forward into the unknown future of our “with God” life.
