Good morning…

At my request, our twenty-two year old daughter sent me this photo snapped on her morning run. She has graduated from college, has landed her first temporary job, and is now settling in at home for a season of saving up for the future which lies ahead of her.

“I am discovering that I like running in the mornings before work,” she explained. “I have found a route I enjoy, to the Shell station then to the horse farm and back. I run some. I walk some. My goal is to run the whole thing before I start adding distance.”

Although she might not always see the Power, the Person, the Presence lighting her pathway forward, I trust the Maker of our daughter and the Maker of the rising sun. An intricate obstacle course has been created for her lifetime, a marathon course designed just for her, as she is guided along each day.

This hope is my constant prayer for each unique member of our family: Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1, AMPC).

Morning by morning. Step by step by step. God has got our children!
