anger-poisons

Good morning…

I lingered in silent solitude after a life-giving session with my spiritual director. Sitting still for as long as I needed, I soaked in the palpable presence of God. I quietly felt compelled to pull out my old IPhone 6S to take pictures of three framed sayings resting in the borrowed room.

“holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. – buddha”

“Live in such a way that those who know you, but don’t know God, will come to know God because they know you…”

“I will bless the LORD who guides me, even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is with me. I will not be shaken for He is right beside me. – Ps. 16:7-8”

Ministering to me in the safety of this silent space, God personalized for me three important truths.

  1. Holding onto anger is a choice that poisons me.
  2. Each moment of every day, I can choose to live in such a way that others will come to know God because they know me.
  3. Knowing God is with me, at all times, in all places, with all people, I can trust the LORD to guide me, instructing my heart. With my Creator constantly beside me, unshakable blessings will dawn from my darkest of nights.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12, NLT).

Moment by moment our choice is clear: Will I hold onto anger or will I hold onto God?
