Good morning…

Over thirty years ago when my husband and I walked up the wedding aisle as twenty-four year old newlyweds, we could not have known we would wake today seeking God’s wisdom with a community of grievers. Before crafting this morning’s blog message, I dig down deep to mine the hidden gems of God’s living presence. As the chaplain at our school, which is reeling from the recent loss of a beloved trustee and a well-loved graduate, my husband finalizes his message for this afternoon’s funeral service, digging down deep to mine the hidden gems of God’s living presence. Everyone of us craves the same elusive thing: God’s wisdom in our weeping.

So where does wisdom come from?
    Where does understanding live?
It’s hidden from the eyes of every living thing.
Even the birds in the sky can’t find it.
Death and the Grave say,
“Only reports about it have reached our ears.”
But God understands the way to it.
He is the only one who knows where it lives.
He sees from one end of the earth to the other.
He views everything in the world.
He made the mighty wind.
    He measured out the waters.
He gave orders for the rain to fall.
He made paths for the thunderstorms.
Then he looked at wisdom and set its price.
He established it and tested it.
He said to human beings,
“Have respect for the Lord. That will prove you are wise.
Avoid evil. That will show you have understanding” (Job 28:20-28, NIRV).

Deep wisdom and full understanding will someday be ours, today is just not that day. Until we see God and our lost loved ones face to face, we focus our hurting hearts on respecting the LORD and trusting God’s goodness, day after day after day.
