Good morning…
Do not ask me how this conversation came up at our yard sale. Amid small talk, a woman said, “Someone recently told me, ‘Our place of most effective ministry is where we can not be replaced.'” Think about it. In what areas of our lives does it matter that we, wired uniquely, remain present, available, whole-heartedly committed? In the family, is it our role as attentive mom? Supportive wife? Care giving daughter? Outside the home, might it be our role as listening friend? Creative artist? Loyal leader?
I challenge each of us to personalize this wise woman’s statement, “My place of most effective ministry is where I can not be replaced.” Where in this world are you and I leaving our most one-of-a-kind mark? Let us press into those places of need with renewed conviction, trusting the LORD to minister through us.
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life, 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 (NIV),
