Good morning…

She wrote me a short, sweet reply after yesterday’s post, The Prayers Of A Child, in which I presented this pondering point, “Thinking back on yourself as a child, what regular rituals may have been your first forms of prayer?”

“In response to today’s blog. . .

playing Jacks on the smooth, cool, shaded concrete front porch of our San Antonio, Texas home. I could do it for hours and be perfectly content. . . bounce and sweep. . . bounce and sweep. . . a rhythmic meditation of peaceful innocence.”

Whatever our age, Jesus invites us to enjoy his rhythm of peace: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG).
