Good morning…

When we are emptied out by the harshness of life, we dig deeper into God and are filled full in new ways. Each of our posts this week have touched on this theme: as we surrender our own expectations, God’s higher ways begin to emerge. Touch the “Past Blog Posts” button below to review our everyday lessons on being emptied, laid low, left bare . . . then waiting in a transitional time . . . before we are gradually filled to overflowing with the powerful Spirit of God.

You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything (Colossians 2:10, MSG).

P.S. We will discussing another form of emptying in our Crucial Conversation tonight at Northside Church chapel from 5:00 to 6:30 pm: DIVORCE. Many of us are impacted by divorce, our own, our parents’, our child’s, our friend’s. With each divorce a dream life is first emptied . . . then we wait in a transitional state . . . before God gradually reestablishes an abundant new normal. Semester by semester in our living room classes, I hear stories of divorce, the pain, the ambivalence, and the freedom of beginning life “with God” in a brand new way. Tonight’s talk will be facilitated by my longtime friend Vilda Brannen, therapist, Northside member, and beloved regular to our living room, and her friend, therapist Tim Bouman. Please join us for an encouraging time of collaborative learning about how the many facets of divorce invite us on a deeper faith journey. Men and women, friends and family members are all warmly welcome.
