Good morning…
Waking very early on Mother’s Day morn, in quiet anticipation I open the package bearing my mom’s beautiful handwriting.
“Susie,” the note sent from Ohio begins with my nickname. “A homemade Mother’s Day card during the Covid-19 virus shelter-in-place order this year. The wish never changes. May your Mother’s Day be special surrounded by your caring family and may you know we love you SO much and have many happy memories of you. Love, Mom and Dad.”
Then I open the box and pull out a framed needlepoint quote hand-stitched by my mom: “A short walk with a good friend goes a long way.”
Caring family. SO much love. Many happy memories. Good friends to walk beside. Our deepest wish never changes.
This Mother’s Day morning, whether we kiss our mom, we miss our mom, or we dismiss our mom, there is a deep down love bonding us all. God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us (1 John 4:17, MSG). Taking up permanent residence in a life of love, living in God as God lives in us, we unwrap the maturing gift for which we are designed.
God’s wish never changes: We love each other because he loved us first (1 John 4:19, NLT).
…Sue…
P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to you, Mom. I LOVE the framed saying and your loving card. Happy Mother’s Day also, Cathy and Pilar. I love you all.
