Good morning…
Through our early morning blog post, yesterday began with a Mother Teresa quote: “I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.”
By mid-morning a friend wrote from Jacksonville, Florida: “Sue, I wanted you to know that I am hosting a prayer vigil for my friend at 6pm today and will share the beautiful Margaret Silf quote you shared as part of a recent reflection. So through your pencil, you will write on the hearts of those who gather tonight, and thank you for those words of comfort. Xoxo.”
I have been praying for this woman I have never met since my friend reached out for urgent prayers early Friday morning. Today my friend’s friend will undergo surgery at the Mayo Clinic to remove a tumor from her frontal lobe.
After crafting and sending a blog post, I often forget what God has written through me. So I asked my friend, “Which Margaret Silf quote will you share?” She sent me this screen shot and ah-ha, I remembered.
Then in the late afternoon I helped with homework at PAWkids, and I saw this beautiful bowl of newly sharpened pencils. I thought to myself, “What a perfect symbol for today, a visual reminder of the healing power of our collective prayers.”
As I left PAWkids at 6:00 pm, the prayer vigil in Jacksonville was just beginning. I felt the mysterious power of prayer as I wrote a long love letter in my mind with our God who spans time and space and hearts.
When a believing person prays, great things happen (James 5:16b, EXB).
…Sue…
