Good morning…

Doodling artist Grant Snider, creator of Incidental Comics and picture books, describes himself as a “keeper of sketchbooks, loser of pens.” I absolutely love his uniquely creative work.

For me, this series of comic book images entitled “Morning Light,” these images beg an essential question.

“The morning sun

doesn’t care

what is warmed

by her radiant light.

Why do we, humans,

try to pick and to choose

who deserves

the endless love of God

poured

through us?”

Jesus said it this way. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the supple moves of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty (Matthew 5:44-45, MSG).

Supple means moving and bending with ease. Flexible. Relaxed. Flowing.

Responding with the supple moves of prayer, might we learn to love like Jesus loved, warming and nourishing like the morning sun?
