Good morning…

Our pastor read Proverbs 31:10-31, a section of scripture which bears the heading: The Wife of Noble Character. I heard a familiar voice behind me whisper, “Those words describe Marilyn perfectly.”

One particular verse lingers in my mind from yesterday’s simple service honoring the extraordinary life of 92 year old Marilyn Davis.

Strength and dignity

are her clothing,

and she laughs

at the time to come.

– Proverbs 31:25, ESV

Precious stories were shared. People laughed out loud. Memories highlighted were so consistently Marilyn. Wise. Loving. Deeply faithful.

Marilyn chose beautiful songs to enliven our celebratory experience. The final hymn had us all on our feet, singing boldly in one voice. This moving song, written by Eliza E. Hewitt in 1898, expresses the joy of heaven and the faithfulness of all believers.

Now, might we join in the chorus with Marilyn and our loved ones in heaven? Our great cloud of witnesses are clothed with strength and dignity, laughing with Jesus as our bright future unfolds.
