Good morning…
Overwhelmed by heavy emotions, she said, “I don’t know whether to keep things to myself (which usually leads to me eventually blowing up) or to talk out my feelings, telling my husband exactly how I feel (which often hurts his feelings).”
After pondering her difficult dilemma, I said, “I wonder if there is a third choice. I wonder if we are designed to talk out our feelings with God first, regularly, telling him exactly how we feel. If we are guided to say something to another person, we will be given the right words and the right timing, if we depend on God’s lead.”
Depend on God’s lead. The phrase comes back to me now, as I wake in the middle of the night. I remember, “We sang similar words at church on Sunday – I depend on you.” So, I googled the words “I depend on you song,” and I was drawn to this calming music video for the song Abide.
Faced with life’s difficult dilemmas, might we learn to abide with God, talking things out with him first, following his lead?
Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me (John 15:4, AMPC).
