prayer

Good morning…

Yesterday began with this prayer, a prayer sent by a friend.

“It was the best to see you at church and to share a hug,” she wrote. “God has surrounded me since with overwhelming trust. I hope you are feeling it too this week. XO”

“Overwhelming trust,” I replied. “What a beautiful gift from God. Overwhelming trust is not a human trait. It is a supernatural intervention.”

“Overwhelming Trust,” I continued. “Maybe those two words need to live on some river rocks too. Gracious Acceptance. Overwhelming Trust. These are gifts bestowed by God. I struggle to trust God with my dad, with my mom, with Steve’s new work, with my own healthy aging, with possible spouses for our unmarried kids, with grandbabies, hopefully, someday. I cannot make my dreams come true. Instead I need to let God’s dream for my life quietly, organically grow. That shift from my dreams to God’s dreams requires Overwhelming Trust. Thanks for uncovering this treasure with me.”

After I finished texting, I looked over and saw our little dog Gracie.

“Gracie just gave me a tangible visual of what Overwhelming Trust feels like,” I texted immediately. “We nestle into the crevices offered this day, and we look up. We look up with Gracious Acceptance of whatever God allows. Moment by moment. Day by day.”

You will keep the peace, a perfect peace, for all who trust in You, for those who dedicate their hearts and minds to You (Isaiah 26:3, VOICE).

Today, might we experience the perfect peace of all who trust in God, who Overwhelmingly Trust?
