Good morning…
A friend reached out yesterday. “Good morning Sue – I know your heart is very heavy, sending prayers for peace and comfort. I am sending you a video link. I saw it right after the devastating flood tragedy in Texas earlier this summer. Pastor Levi Lusko shared his perspective of God moving mountains in light of his own sudden loss of his five year old daughter, and it is really very powerful. He says in those moments if we could hear God, He is saying, “This isn’t going to be the mountain of Me taking a trial away. It’s going to be the mountain moving of Me sustaining you in a trial that in My sovereignty, I’ve chosen to allow to remain. You see in God’s providence He can redeem what in His sovereignty He could have prevented. That thorn is going to be a stake that anchors you to Me, and when you are weak, I am strong.”
In Romans Paul says the Holy Spirit makes prayers out of our wordless sighs and aching groans. Each moment has been a prayer. Yesterday I heard a pastor on the radio say that as our afflictions increase, so does God’s grace. His power made perfect in weakness. But what a blessing to have community to come alongside this ministry of tears. Many, many prayers for all. Xo”
My dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful test you are suffering, as though something unusual were happening to you. Rather be glad that you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, so that you may be full of joy when his glory is revealed (1 Peter 4:12-13, GNT).
I touched on this link and learned more about the God who sustains us through life’s painful trials. Might you do the same this fresh fall morning?
