Good morning…
As I drove our oldest daughter to the airport yesterday, God felt very present. Tessa was flying to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to support a group of college students she cares about after the brother of one young woman died of suicide this week.
Tessa does college ministry at the University of Georgia through the thriving chapter of Campus Outreach. Now, up in the middle of the night, I read Tessa’s Ministry Update asking for prayers for the Kleinpeter family and their friends, as they gather today to lay to rest their son, their brother, their friend. (See Thomas’ obituary.)
In part Tessa writes: “Please pray for me as I go love on Camille & her college friends. It’s hard because I don’t know all the answers, I don’t know why God lets these things happen, but I do know God is in this because He says so and because of that I have hope!! Please pray that I will be a vessel of Gods love to these girls & God will give me the words I need. Today the Bible apps verse of the day says “For it is not you who will be speaking— it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:20
…As I prepare to walk into a grieving house, God has put John 15:5 on my heart the past couple of days, ‘I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.’
Thank you so much for your prayers!”
On our drive to the airport, the last song Tessa and I listened to was Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me. Without knowing the Bible app verse of the day, I shared the sentiment of Matthew 10:20 as Tessa stepped out of the car. You will not be speaking your own words. The Holy Spirit of your Father God will give you his own words to say.
As you listen to this music video and see the young people tapping into the healing power of God, please lift up the deep needs of loved ones grieving Thomas.
