Good morning…
In yesterday’s blog post, I shared about The Dawn Of Advent, introducing you to the daily devotional gift of Dr. James Johnson, our Discipleship Director from Northside Church. By mistake, I gave you the wrong link to sign yourself up to receive these morning messages throughout the season of Advent. The link I gave somehow returned your email to me, instead of sending your email to the church. The beauty of this mistake is that all day long I kept receiving anonymous request after anonymous request, asking to be added the mailing list. I loved seeing the fresh interest generated by the Holy Spirit. By the end of the day, fifty-six of you had reached out to be new subscribers after experiencing James’ first lesson in The Birth of Glory, our 2025 Advent devotional (see below).
I contacted Elisabeth, the Director of Creative Services at Northside Church (who just happens to be James’ newly wedded wife), to learn the best way for new subscribers to add themselves to the mailing list. She replied: “Good morning and happy Advent ☺️! Folks can visit www.NorthsideUMC.org/email and choose “Advent and Lent Devotionals”. If people are already signed up for other subscriptions from Northside Church, it should just update automatically.”
I corrected my mistake and updated yesterday’s message with the right information. But first, I took time to marvel God, who is spreading out in new ways through our written word community, drawing more and more of us into the vibrant ministries offered through Northside Church, expanding the kingdom of God in our very midst. Please touch on the correct link, and add your email if the Spirit moves you.
Together, let’s enter into this Advent season, anticipating the birth of Ichabod, who will creatively lead us toward the life-changing birth of the baby Jesus.
