parents

Good morning…

This week we received handwritten envelops, one for Steve and me as well as one addressed personally to each of our four kids and our daughter-in-law. At ages 88 and 87, my parents are still sending out Christmas cards. Pretty amazing, right?

I took this photo as I visited with them in Ohio earlier this month. Look at their faces. My mom’s broad, easy smile. The mischievous twinkle in my dad’s eyes. It’s impossible to miss the joy of the Lord as it radiates.

“Merry Christmas – with love, Tom and Marie” whispers the happy card.

Endured multiple health issues in recent years and waking up many times from the longest of nights, my parents’ twinkling presence offers living proof that the life of Emmanuel is being born on earth. God is with us.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared… praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:13-14, NIV).

In peace, might each of us rest in the glorious favor of God this day?
