Good morning…
Yesterday was Betty Skinner’s sixth birthday in heaven. Betty was a Christian mystic and the heroine of my all-time favorite book, The Hidden Life Awakened by Kitty Crenshaw and Dr. Cathy Snapp. Incredibly drawn to her Jesus-like qualities, I took an annual pilgrimage to visit with Betty in Ponta Vedra, Florida for the last five years of her life. Returning home to be with Jesus in August of 2021 at the age of 95, Betty’s physical presence is deeply missed on earth, yet her spiritual presence expands on and on.
A group of seven of us, friends of Betty, texted about her yesterday afternoon. We unwrapped memories and paid tribute to the incredible influence Betty has had in each one of our lives. Highlighting many of the seeds of Betty’s wisdom, Cathy Snapp wrote an inspirational text message.

HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY, DEAREST BETTINA……may we press on to know “Who and whose we are”……………may we know that “Gratitude is everything”…………..may we deepen our capacity to “Keep our mouths closed and our hearts open”………….may we continue to grow in “Using our pain to end our pain”………..may we know to the core of our being that “All is well, all is well, all manner of things shall be well”……..may the Holy Spirit continue to bless us in moving from “what is good, to what is better…to what is BEST”………may we continue to make our hearts a “Manger where Christ dwells”……may we learn to let go, “No clinging allowed”…..and know that “Change and growth are synonymous”……..We love you so much, dearest, beloved, BWS…….

Betty’s influence now ripples out to nudge you, opening your own path to wholeness with God.
- Know who and whose you are.
- Remember, “Gratitude is everything.”
- Keep your mouth shut and your heart open.
- Use your pain to end your pain.
- Embrace the truth of Julian of Norwich: “All is well, all is well, all manner of things shall be well.”
- Move from what is good, to what is better, to what is BEST.
- Make your heart a manger where Christ dwells.
- Learn to let go, no clinging allowed.
- Change and growth are synonymous.
In honor of Betty’s birthday, which of these wise phrases might you focus upon most fully, as you live this unique day at hand?
If any of you want to walk My path, you’re going to have to deny yourself. You’ll have to take up your cross every day and follow Me. If you try to avoid danger and risk, then you’ll lose everything. If you let go of your life and risk all for My sake, then your life will be rescued, healed, made whole and full (Luke 9:23-24, VOICE).
