Good morning…

It feels like the world is on fire. Doesn’t it? Bombs detonating. Flames charring. Plumes of smoke rising. Buildings demolished. Lives destroyed. People displaced. As aggression is ignited in various corners of the globe, it feels like our world is on fire.

Tonight it will feel as if the moon is on fire too.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac teaches us intriguing facts. Tonight’s full moon is known as the Worm Moon, as it signals the time when earthworms emerge from the warming soil. The Worm Moon peaks on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 6:38 a.m. EST, though the moon appears full in the cloudy sky right now. This specific full moon features a rare total lunar eclipse (or Blood Moon), where the moon will turn a coppery red. The Blood Moon effect occurs as the moon passes through Earth’s shadow. Visible in the Americas, East Asia, Australia, and the Pacific, in our area the total lunar eclipse will begin at 6:04 a.m. EST and ends around 7:02 a.m. EST tomorrow morning.

As we wake to a new day, might you join me in admiring this fascinating phenomenon, a gorgeous global glimpse of a unique experience our Creator set in motion long ago? This total lunar eclipse of the full Worm Moon demonstrates for us the powerful presence of the Eternal God. It radiates an exquisite blessing.

“May the Lord bless his land
with the precious dew from heaven above
and with the deep waters that lie below;
with the best the sun brings forth
and the finest the moon can yield;
with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains
and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills.”

– Deuteronomy 33:13-15 (NIV)

Amid all of the heartache we humans endure, we are held in the eternal embrace of the Creator of life, the Giver of grace, our Father who art in heaven.
