Good morning…
I love the rhythm of our Women’s Ministry at Northside Church. We enjoy a fertile fall semester and a wonderful winter/spring semester, then, for the summer, we channel all of our study and our service opportunities into a few awesome options.
- Our weekly summer reading group begins at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 3rd. Our first book is Here and Now: Living in the Spirit by Henri Nouwen. Please get your own book and read the first three sections for our first meeting (the sections are Living in the Present, Joy, and Suffering). Nouwen has created eleven sections of short essays that cover various aspects of the Christian life. The book is not difficult to read but, as always, contains thought provoking insights. The second book is Words of Love: A Healing Journey with the Ten Commandments by Eugenia Ann Gamble. More on that later! We meet by Zoom each Wednesday at 10:00 am. Are you interested in joining us? Please contact Caroline Smith at fitzco1@comcast.net to receive the Zoom link.
- Our PawKids and Grove Park Food Ministry seeks to live out the call of Christ: “When I was hungry, you fed me.” This summer, we have the opportunity to serve children and families in the 30318 community who are experiencing food insecurity. I invite you to make an impact by joining us as we prepare 200 bag lunches every Monday and Wednesday throughout the months of June and July. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus by showing love, care, and compassion in a tangible way. The ministry will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Northside’s Old Kitchen. Whether you can serve once or throughout the summer, your time and presence will make a difference. All items will be provided. Please invite folks to come and serve with you.

For many of us, the summer season is a different animal. Kids and teachers are out of school, schedules relax into less structure, and vacation begins to call our name. Studying together by Zoom and signing up to serve when we are available adds freedom and flexibility to the fun of summer.
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25, NLT).
