hawk

Good morning…

“This hawk on our lake this morning was just too magnificent not to share!” a friend texted yesterday morning.

“So so stately,” I replied. “What is the spiritual significance of hawks?”

It did not take her long to respond: “Hawks are often seen as powerful spiritual symbols representing intuition, transformation, and personal growth. Their presence can signify a call to pay attention to one’s inner guidance and embrace change in life.”

She went on to uncover more wisdom.

Spiritual Meanings of Hawks – Hawks carry various spiritual messages that can guide personal development.

• Intuition — Hawks are believed to enhance one’s intuitive abilities, encouraging individuals to trust their instincts.
• Transformation — Encountering a hawk may symbolize a significant change or transformation in one’s life.
• Vision and Clarity — Hawks possess keen eyesight, representing the need for clarity and perspective in decision-making.
• Courage — The hawk’s fearless nature inspires individuals to confront challenges and pursue their goals with confidence.

“Very powerful image,” I responded, “and the description is right on. Pay attention to one’s inner guidance, the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit within, and embrace change in life. That is exactly what Paula is teaching us.”

On page 53 in Waking Up to This Day, Paula D’Arcy writes:

“I slowly began to see that within the cells of every living thing is the same essence – the presence of spirit. The heart of our journey is to awaken to this spirit within. The point is not to have a perfect life and to realize every expectation. Something else is at work in life – something with a totally different purpose. I’d spent enough years devoted to how I wanted (expected) life to be. Now it was time to turn to life as it is and begin that pilgrimage.”

Pondering the presence of this majestic hawk, I wonder to myself, “Am I willing to shed how I wanted life to be and turn to life as it is?”

With the Spirit of God awakening within, what a pilgrimage lies ahead!

What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a pilgrimage… (Psalm 84:5, NLT).
