Good morning…
As the moon thickens above our home, I think back on our sacred weekend at the Ignatius House Retreat Center. Abiding in the quietness of now, I pull out my hand-scribbled notes. I return to the first quote shared on Friday night, the first teaching, the first song.
“I remind myself that we are never promised anything,” wrote author Jeanne Duprau, “and that what control we can exert is not over the events that befall us but how we address ourselves to them.”
“We are all embodied spirits,” began one of the retreat leaders. “Jesus also came in a body. Navigating life’s ups and downs, just like Jesus did, God is holding us through everything.”
Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. A branch cannot bear fruit if it is disconnected from the vine, and neither will you if you are not connected to Me (John 15:4, VOICE).
Whatever events that befall us, might we discover our best ways to consciously abide in God as God abides in us?
