Good morning…

“Ah! So perfect! This one is for me!” she emailed me after yesterday’s post, The Back Roads Of Your Self. “Up at 4:00 am because of jet lag after a wonderful month with my husband wandering the gorgeous back roads of France. Feeling so free then and now feeling a little overwhelmed by the highway life. And you bring me this gift of remembering I can live in peace and harmony with God at my side in the back roads of my mind – whatever my current geography! Love this – spot on, sister. Thank you, Sue! I hope you are finding beauty along the path of your back roads too.”

“I love hearing from you during your jet lagged 4:00 am awakening,” I reply. “This is a great awakening: we can live in peace and harmony with God in the back roads of our mind – whatever our current geography! Do you have any favorite pictures of the back roads you traveled in France? I would love for you to text them to me, and who knows, maybe God will craft a morning message using your photos and our words. My prayers are with you as you re-enter the overwhelm of highway life.”

I have never been to France myself, so I was fascinated by the peaceful beauty cascading into my phone.

In these early morning hours, I balance the overwhelm of my highway life by sitting with, admiring, soaking in the harmony of God’s back road beauty. A reminder from yesterday rises up right now: Winding through our interior terrain, we are gently guided by the Holy Spirit of God. “So keep this refuge in mind: the back roads of your self.” Fresh learning now holds our hand: We are given the gift of remembering, “I can live in peace and harmony with God at my side in the back roads of my mind – whatever my current geography!”

With God as our personal guide through the overwhelm of highway life, we are given the gift of peaceful remembering. Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of the Spirit in the binding power of peace (Ephesians 4:3, AMPC).
