Charlie

Good morning…

On May 14th, we got our son Kyler’s first text at 2:14 am. “At the hospital! Pray for us. Chandler is doing amazing.” I wrote our blog post in the middle of the night, sharing their request for prayers, then I headed back to bed for my second sleep.

At 9:00 am, his next text came in, “She’s pushing now. Everything seems to be progressing well.” That’s when the hardest part began.

“Keep praying,” Kyler texted at 11:35 am. “It’s going really well! Really wanting him to come naturally and no vacuum or surgery, so pray for that.” Time continued to pass without a word.

Around 1:00 pm, I felt the urge to send out several private texts to a large army of prayer warriors. “Baby boy Allen is on his way. Chandler is on her fifth hour of pushing. They ask that we pray for continued progress and no need for surgery. I am headed to Athens now, getting our puppy Cami set at the farm first.” A sustained flurry of text messages came in as I drove, the prayers of the multitude were blowing up my phone.

Then within minutes came the joyful text. “Healthy mom healthy baby! It was a wild ride. Thank you for your prayers. Charles Shepherd Allen (6 lbs 2 oz) has arrived. Chandler is an absolute warrior. We will call him Charlie.”

I was the first visitor to arrive, then my husband Steve, then our kids. What a deeply bonding experience, making memories we’ll never forget.

We stayed the night at a cheap hotel and visited again in the morning. What a sweet way to begin a new phase of life for our family.

I truly believe that the prayers of family and friends, injected at the 11th hour, miraculously pushed baby Charlie through the birth process, with no need for surgery. I thank each one of you who lifted prayers on behalf of our grateful family.

Dear friends, keep building on the foundation of your most holy faith, as the Holy Spirit helps you to pray (Jude 1:20, CEV).
