Good morning…

This hurting world needs Our Special Endowment, the unique spiritual gift God has placed within each of us. Tucked inside the bulletin from our Women’s Lenten Communion Service, we meet deep questions to help us discern: “GOD, WHAT AM I MADE FOR?” Focusing on these eight questions as we journey through the forty days of Lent, we are invited to diligently unwrap the spiritual gift intentionally bestowed upon us by our LORD before we were born.

  1. What adjectives best describe me and my personality?
  2. Over the years, what special qualities have people appreciated in me?
  3. What seem to be my spiritual gifts, strengths and weaknesses hard-wired by God?
  4. How have I been shaped by the strongest hate and the strongest love?
  5. What life challenges have I endured and what passion has grown from my pain?
  6. What needs in the world tug at my heart?
  7. In this life season, what do I sense are my spheres of greatest influence?
  8. How might I significantly impact the world for God?

These questions do not illicit quick, easy answers. Prayerfully pondering one or two questions each week might might help us to hear God’s Spirit summoning us forward, coaxing us to share gifts from our “birthright self,” with our family and our friends, our church and our community, our needy nation and our wounded world. Our true self was not put in our heart to stay, our true self is not actualized until we gradually give it away. Our life-saving gift to the world will take a lifetime for us to fully embody, but might Lent 2018 be a special season in time when we commit wholeheartedly to becoming the healing agent God equips us daily to be?

For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift] (John 1:16, AMP).
