Good morning…

Though the media focused formally on the dress, the couple, and the royal family, yesterday’s historic wedding ceremony gave full attention to our Triune God. I was half-watching the festivities when our Creators’s Spirit captivated me, drew me in. So I got out my journal to jot down sketchy notes from the sacred service.

“Marriage is made holy by Christ.”

“Fulfill God’s purpose for the whole of your earthly lives.”

“There is power in love, not just in the romantic form. When you are loved, you know it. It feels right. Love is the reason for our existence. We were made by the power of love, made by God Himself, our Source of life. Where true love is found, God is there. Those who do not love do not know God.”

“Help and heal. Lift up and invigorate. The power of love, set it as a seal upon your life. Love the LORD with all your heart. Love your neighbor as yourself. The love of God and the love of others – everything hangs on the unconditional love of God for the world. Live that love. Let it change your lives and change the lives around you. You have power, real power, to change the world.”

“Jesus is the way of love. He died to save us all. He gave his life for the good of the wellbeing of the world. This love, sacrificial love, becomes redemptive. Self-giving love changes lives, it changes the world. Imagine a world where love is the way. Justice will roll down, poverty will become history, and the earth will be a sanctuary. Love is the way. God is the Source of all love and we are the children of God. Together we are bringing about a new heaven, a new earth, a new world, a new human family.”

“Let love be a seal on your hearts and the crown upon your heads, awake and asleep, in poverty and in plenty. May God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit grant you the power of His love, body and soul, throughout your eternal life. May the Source of life and the Spring of love enrich you by His presence and strengthen you by His grace. May there be hospitality in your home as God’s love overflows to all who enter. Enjoy the presence of the LORD of love and life. May the power of the Holy Spirit lead you forth in truth and help you through adversity. At the end of your lives, may your hearts be content as you enter the joy of heaven. May the LORD’s strength, faith, and love protect you on all sides and lead you forward with the presence of the Holy Spirit.”

Our week was marred by a tragic accident in Texas, more senseless school shootings, and violent unrest around our globe. In love, God grabbed the microphone at the royal wedding and spoke boldly into millions of viewing hearts: “I am with you always. I made you as part of My redemptive solution. Let My sacrificial love overflow through your ordinary lives to help heal this hurting world.”

May we all live into God’s call upon our daily lives: We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19, NIV).
