Good morning…
“I’m going to Ukraine on the 29th,” said LaTonya Gates, founder and director of PAWkids, as we sat together yesterday. “I’m excited about serving outside of our community. This ‘Crates for Ukraine’ project reaches so far outside of Grove Park to help people in great need.”
“What can we do to best support you?” I asked.
“First. Please, please pray for us,” she replied. “I, along with four other members from our church, will be taking at least 30 crates of supplies to Krakow, Poland to help our displaced Ukrainian brothers and sisters. Our church has collected supplies and we are packing the crates. The church is also paying for our airfare. We are still accepting support to cover the cost of our in-country expenses for our five day stay, food, lodging, ground transportation. Interested people can donate funds.”
“Will you take lots of pictures and write a blog post with me about your experience when you return?” I wondered. “We would love to be a part of this life-giving adventure with you.”
“Yes, please keep us in your prayers, and we will return to share photos and stories of God at work,” our friend beamed with hope.
Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (James 2:15-17, NIV).
