Good morning…

This week I learned a fascinating fact. The biggest booster of dopamine, our brain’s feel-good neurotransmitter, is community. Life-giving relationships boost our spirits more than a brisk walk, a great meal or an awesome glass of wine! No wonder we can’t wait to return to our weekly classes offered through Northside Church.

Every semester, I am prayerfully on the lookout for the book God chooses for us to discuss in our home on Mondays and on Fridays. For this fall, God has drawn us to explore an amazingly small book called Simple Faith: Moving Beyond Religion As You Know It To Grow In Your Relationship With God by Margaret Silf (Margaret wrote The Other Side of Chaos, a book we thoroughly enjoyed a few years back). Here is the sentence in Simple Faith that hooked my attention: “She will look back over the kaleidoscope of her life and notice how the fragments of experience that made no sense at the time were, all along, shaping a rather beautiful pattern.”

Kaleidoscope captured me. Kaleidoscope. I love that word. Leaning into the light, I envision the vibrant colors and God’s new designs emerging with each subtle shift. With fifteen slots in each of the classes I teach in our home, please sign up at your earliest convenience.

We also offer other dynamic classes at the church throughout the week, mornings and evenings, with one hybrid option for those who live outside of Atlanta. We will return to Laura Deisley’s welcoming home one Sunday each month to unpack the wisdom of Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman. In addition, we invite interested women to sign up as a PAWkids Prayer Partner, as God continues to expand our sense of community from Buckhead to Bankhead. All of this is a gift from our Creator God, who has pursued us and brought us into a restored and healthy relationship… (2 Corinthians 5:18a, VOICE).
