Good morning…

A gorgeous sunset was followed by a rare phenomenon.

“A stunning near-total partial lunar eclipse occurred overnight between August 27 and August 28, 2026,” says Space.com. “At its peak, the Earth’s dark central shadow, or umbra, covered 96.2% of the full Sturgeon Moon, tinting it a dramatic crimson or copper “blood moon” color.”

A friend wrote from California, sharing her own breathtaking view. “The lunar eclipse here last night,” she texted. “The feminine energy and beauty of the blood moon. Thought I would share.” Exchanging photos, we were in awe of the God who is powerfully present, everywhere, at all times.

When I gaze to the skies and meditate on Your creation — on the moon, stars, and all You have made, I can’t help but wonder why You care about mortals — sons and daughters of men — specks of dust floating about the cosmos (Psalm 8:3-4, VOICE).

When I gaze to the skies and meditate on God’s creation, I wonder, “With all this and heaven as well, why do you care so deeply about us, mere mortals?”
