Good morning…
After re-waking in the morning, I re-read yesterday’s post, Be Electrically Aware. In that moment, I lifted my energized eyes to see God’s sermon sitting on the couch right in front of me. In one ordinary snapshot Gracie, our little yorkie-shitzu rescue, taught me a little bit more about prayer. Prayer is curling up by a patch of light cast by our living LORD, trusting that what is ours to do will peacefully get done. Trusting that whoever is ours to love, will experience God’s love through us. Trusting that as God’s Spirit spreads, we are invited to be involved.
The words of Jan Johnson then quietly walked into our living room.
“As we free ourselves from trying to employ correct mechanics of prayer and allow ourselves to be still and know that God is God, prayer becomes a meeting of the hearts where we rest in God’s presence. It is no longer hard work but a source of rest and new possibilities. Even when we have nothing important to say to God, we are satisfied in the divine rhythm of coming and going, working and resting. Finding a good plan is not our chief goal; rather living in the company of God is” (When the Soul Listens, Jan Johnson, 13).
Gradually we learn to live more and more of our daily moments in ongoing union with the Giver of each breath. Open. Adventurous. Peacefully reflective. I am learning that prayer is not so much about finding answers, prayer is more about finding God with us in each moment. “What’s more, I am with you, and will protect you wherever you go…I will be with you constantly until I have finished giving you all I am promising” (Genesis 28:15, TLB).
My mind is now drawn to a music video which also rests beside the living light of our loving LORD. Enjoy God’s voice inviting and involving us.
