Good morning…

I love reading the wise words of Howard Thurman etched in the handwriting of my friend. “You are the only you that has ever lived; your idiom is the only idiom of its kind in all existences, and if you cannot hear the sound of the genuine in you, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that someone else pulls.” Thurman wrote these enduring words in 1980, when he was eighty-one years old.

Following right behind Thurman’s genuine gift of writing, I just experienced the artistic talents of a young man who now joins our chorus. Joe Davis, in a teen poetry slam, encourages us all to just SHOW UP, to SHOW UP with our unique gifts to give this world. How wonderful it is to see a messenger coming across the mountains, bringing good news, the news of peace! (Isaiah 52:7a, GNT).

The best gift we will give everyone this Christmas season is to SHOW UP with the sound of the genuine living through our ordinary lives.
