Good morning…
Bursting on bare branches and decorating brown decay, vibrant green is everywhere! After weeks of thick yellow pollen and before the return of those pesky mosquitos, this weekend is perfectly positioned to exude joy and new life.
Amidst blooming azaleas, towering pines and flowering dogwoods, the first full week of April always ushers in the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. To round out the experience, the pride and joy of our state since 1934, even the winner’s jacket is green!
Combining spirituality, sport and spring, I discover the perfect poem to capture the wonders of this post-Easter weekend.

“spring song” by Lucille Clifton
the green of Jesus
is breaking the ground
and the sweet
smell of delicious Jesus
is opening the house and
the dance of Jesus music
has hold of the air and
the world is turning
in the body of Jesus and
the future is possible
******
What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole (1 Peter 1:3-5, MSG).
As we bond together in the body of Jesus, pushing through life’s barrenness and decay, all around us green growth whispers, “The future is possible!”
