Good morning…
Ordained as a Presbyterian minister, my husband Steve has been helping out a bit at Kairos Church, a small nearby church that is in between pastors. Last week, he led communion; this week he did a sweet baptism. The father of the baptized baby is one of Steve’s former students from Lovett, and the paternal grandfather and his awesome wife came on our Israel trip in 2022. Over the years, our families have shared life in so many meaningful ways, and yesterday’s baptism was sacred, special, life-giving.
Planted in this Atlanta community since the summer of 1995, Steve and I have shared so many joys and so many sorrows with incredible families over the years. What an immense privilege we experience each day.
Jesus came forward and addressed His beloved disciples. “I am here speaking with all the authority of God, who has commanded Me to give you this commission: Go out and make disciples in all the nations. Ceremonially wash them through baptism in the name of the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then disciple them. Form them in the practices and postures that I have taught you, and show them how to follow the commands I have laid down for you. And I will be with you, day after day, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20, VOICE).
Generation after generation, we are being formed in the practices and the postures Jesus laid down for us. Together, we are guided by the intimate presence of our triune God, day after day, to the end of the age.
