Good morning…
Rain whispers, “Stay home. Keep warm. Relax inside.”
Yet as I am home, I think of the vulnerable. As I keep warm, I pray for those who are cold. As I relax inside, I hold in my heart those tossed and torn up by stormy unrest.
As rain provides respite for me, I experience a multitude of nurturing synonyms.
- breather
- breathing space
- downtime
- hiatus
- interruption
- layoff
- letup
- lull
- recess
- relaxation
- relief
- reprieve
Yet in my rainy respite with God, if I do not take time to think of, to pray for, to creatively connect with those who are vulnerable, those stuck out in the cold, those tossed and torn up by stormy unrest, then my place of peace neglects its greatest power.
Saturated by the Spirit, 2 Corinthians 8:14-15 in The Passion Translation fills my time of restful renewal.
Your surplus could meet their need, and their abundance may one day meet your need. This equal sharing of abundance will mean a fair balance. As it is written: The one who gathered much didn’t have too much, and the one who gathered little didn’t have too little.
On rainy days and sunny ones, may we all settle into the mutual blessing of balanced abundance.
