yard

Good morning…

“The sheep are coming! The sheep are coming!” read yesterday’s family text from my husband Steve. The fencing has been erected and the sign for John the shepherd’s business is ready to be placed in our front yard. Today is the day our flock of sheep with arrive to take care of our overgrowth, our pesky weeds and out of control vines. (For more detail see yesterday’s post, Steve and Shepherd John.)

So before taking in tonight’s Braves’ game, our family of six with gather beneath our back porch for happy hour with our two dogs and a handful of ivy-eating sheep. I can only imagine the full-bodies faith lessons we will learn as we seek to follow more closely the Shepherd of our souls.

He will feed His fold like a shepherd;
    He will gather together His lambs—the weak and the wobbly ones—into His arms.
He will carry them close to His bosom,
    and tenderly lead like a shepherd the mother of her lambs (Isaiah 40:11, VOICE).
