light

Good morning…

As I took our little dog out in the middle of the night, I experienced the pitch black dark of the new moon. All was calm, all was dark, except one little light.

“What is that?” I wondered.

I got my phone, pointed it in the direction of the light, and took these photos. The first few without flash. The last one with my flash on.

One little lightning bug was wedged between our welcome mat and the threshold of our front door. Her little light was still shining bright as she rested motionless, surrendering quietly to the process of dying.

I felt like this creature was saying, “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine as long as I am given the gift of life.”

What a sweet inspiration.

I woke the next morning to this encouragement in my inbox. Somehow I felt like the glow of the lightening bug illuminated my way to this learning.

“All-powerful Lord God, the One Who is and Who was and Who is to come, we thank You because You are using Your great power and have become Leader” (Revelation 11:17, NLV).

As our Leader, God offers us great power, both now and for forever. How well are we following our Lord’s lead?

Today, please help me to loosen my grip and allow You to lead. Lord, I surrender to You my worries. Give me strength to trust that You are actively at work in every aspect of my life. In creative ways, use my little light to shine your power for as long as I am given life.
