summer-leaves

Good morning…

Still in my pajamas, I sat outside on our private back porch. Admiring the thick canopy of summer leaves, I fully engaged in a hard, life-giving phone call. After listening and talking for as long as was needed, we hung up and I checked my email to find this inspirational story from a faraway subscriber.

The timing was perfect. These words felt like a gift from God for me and for my overwhelmed friend. Immediately I forwarded them to her with this encouragement: “A reader just emailed me this story as you and I talked. Please remember that your family is writing your own loving headlines today. ‘Mom feeds kids breakfast.’ ‘Dad supports son.’ ‘Daily talks sort out daily needs.’ I admire you, your faith, your marriage, your loving heart.”

Even in the midst of life’s most challenging times, God’s canopy of loving care is quietly revealed, visible, valuable, very very vibrant. Are we training our eyes to perceive grace and goodness? Admiring God’s passionate provision, we respond: Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness (Psalm 145:6, MSG). God is great. God is good. And we thank Him, day by day.

Loving big and still enchanted by life, what personal headlines might we write with God today?
