Good morning…
In God’s perfect time, her testimonial came in too late to be included with your heartfelt testimonials rotating at the bottom of each of our “Sue To You” website pages. She gave me permission to share her words as a separate blog post, helping us all to better understand the powerful ministry of spiritual direction.
“From the moment you emailed me,” she wrote, “literally weeks after my husband of 25 years moved out of the house – several days after our youngest’s high school graduation – Did you know God was leading you to me? Did you listen to His call?
I was reeling in every sense of the word. Could not sleep. Could not eat. I was terrified. And surviving only because God was carrying me. Literally. He sent angels each day. A life-coach entered my life, a mentor, a voice of compassion and reason. My parents – never wavering. My two daughters – strong and encouraging. Dear friends – willing to roll up their sleeves and help me organize my thoughts, pack boxes, share a glass of wine some nights, listen. An angel to help me through a painful divorce – a woman attorney. My sweet realtor and friend to help me repair and sell my home. A new church home and family. A new job that explores one of my deep passions – travel.
And YOU.
Seeing God’s work through all of this – each and every day and being able to share the magnificence of His Grace and Glory is such a privilege. To journey and abide in Him is sacred – many times painful, but also so very raw and real. Experiencing an unraveling, with Him by my side – leading me – has been the gift of a lifetime.
I now have eyes to see the journey that others are on as well. I love digging in, leaning in with them. Hearing “their story” of God’s brilliance. Not only have I learned to see the threads in my tapestry, but I have learned to appreciate the woven works in the lives of others. It is a journey – a work in progress – an unraveling and then a re-weaving of the most magnificent kind.

Her gorgeous words bring to life Colossians 2:2-3 (MSG): I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery!
