Good morning…
When my husband was in college, he took a trip to Israel with a small group of students and his favorite professor. Something important awakened in Steve as he walked the steps of Jesus, read Bible stories in the places they actually occurred, and collaborated on the questions of faith brewing in his heart. Walking and talking through that holy land, God solidified in Steve Allen his call into the ministry. Steve returned home vowing to return to Israel, taking with him other believers seeking to deepen their faith in life-changing ways.
For several years now, every other summer, Steve has led a trip to Israel with a small group of students from the school where he is the head chaplain and a long-time wrestling coach. Steve has aged into the role of “favorite professor” for interested high school students seeking be shaped by the Bible experientially, receiving credit for their religion or history requirements. In the summer of 2017, Steve’s vision expanded to take his first small group of adults to experience this land he absolutely loves. Returning with rave reviews, he led another adult trip in 2019, which also sparked special bonding and a rich awakening of faith.
Because we have always had kids at home needing a parent, I have not been able to join Steve on these amazing eleven day trips. One of the things I look forward to most about our emptying nest is the opportunity to travel to Israel with Steve, experiencing first-hand a very vibrant part of my husband’s heart. In 2021, we will be hosting two trips, one in the spring, February 25 – March 7, and one in the summer, June 9 – 19. To keep the collaborative, intimately interactive feel, which has been the soul of these Israel trips from the start, each group will be limited to thirty.
Is God sparking this question in your seeking heart, “Might it also be my time to travel to Israel?” If so, please reply to me by touching the button below, and we will send you the detailed 2021 Israel flyer for your own prayerful consideration. Friends and family are welcome to join you.
He went on to open their understanding of the Word of God, showing them how to read their Bibles this way. He said, “You can see now how it is written that the Messiah suffers, rises from the dead on the third day, and then a total life-change through the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed in his name to all nations—starting from here, from Jerusalem! You’re the first to hear and see it. You’re the witnesses. What comes next is very important: I am sending what my Father promised to you, so stay here in the city until he arrives, until you’re equipped with power from on high” (Luke 24:45-49, MSG).
