Good morning…

This fourth of July 2021, where is our freedom?

In these early morning hours, three Scripture verses merge in my mind to reveal God’s expanding truth. Our freedom is more than a flag bearing stars and stripes, more than hot dogs and hamburgers sizzling on a grill, more than fireworks lighting up the pitch black sky. True freedom is about Christ gently living on through us to free the impoverished, to repair broken hearts, and to share with exhausted captives, “Your prison cell has been unlocked.”

At last we have freedom, for Christ has set us free! We must always cherish this truth and firmly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past (Galatians 5:1, TPT).

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom] (2 Corinthians 3:17, AMP).

The Spirit of the Lord, the Eternal, is on me. The Lord has appointed me for a special purpose. He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to repair broken hearts, and to declare to those who are held captive and bound in prison, “Be free from your imprisonment! (Isaiah 61:1, VOICE).

So I ask again, “Where is our freedom, really?”

True freedom is expanding out through us to reach people trapped in pain. Right before our expectant eyes, who might we see being freed by God’s Spirit this fourth day of July?
