Good morning…
Still. Quiet. Pampered. As the recovering women awake this morning on their spiritual retreat at Ignatius House, I am asking God to meet them in profound, new ways. Each time we can truly “be still” and know on a deeper level that God is God (and we are not), we uncover fresh facets of our genuine selves.
This semester, I have invited the women in my weekly classes through Northside Church to join me on a Day of Reflection at Ignatius House Retreat Center so that they too can experience a time of tender transformation. I am extending the offer to you, our written word community. Here are the details for the Monday, November 2nd daytime retreat, “Care of Body, Care of Soul”.

In the midst of stress and noise of 21st-century life, where demands to ‘keep up’ are relentless, finding moments of peace and self-care becomes crucial, especially while we care for others. Whether you are juggling the responsibilities of caring for young children, elderly parents, or a partner with health challenges or working in demanding fields like ministry, therapy, or healthcare, we all understand the importance of rest and self-care.
At Ignatius House, our team extends a warm invitation for you to step away from the chaos and immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of our natural surroundings. With scenic walkable trails, a nourishing and delicious lunch, and a welcoming environment, our day retreat is designed for you to rest, pray, reflect, journal, and most importantly, experience the rejuvenating power of silence.
Join us in prioritizing your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Discover the art of self-care at Ignatius House – where the care of the body and soul converge for a holistic wellness experience.
This is a silent retreat. Guests will be supported in keeping a sacred silence throughout the retreat, including at lunchtime.

As I have been emailing the Executive Assistant about introducing a new group of women to Ignatius House, she gave me these thought to share with you.
“We are looking forward to having you and others join us on November 2,” wrote Sue. “Yes, you are right that the day starts with refreshments at 8:30am, and then the director, Marian Monahan, will offer several guided reflections, typically at 9am, 11am and after lunch which supports the retreatants during their day of contemplation and rest. Lunch is served around 12pm in silence, and the day concludes at 3pm. There is plenty of personal contemplation time, in our multiple indoor spaces (including the Chapels) or on the grounds and walking trails. The day of reflection may include some closing prayers for the attendees. Everyone who signs up for a retreat will get an email a week prior to arrival with all the information they need to know ahead of time, including this link https://www.ignatiushouse.org/attend/preparing-for-your-retreat, which you might find helpful as you talk to people in the coming weeks. There will also be our address for GPS purposes, and suggestions of what to bring (good walking shoes, dress in layers if it is cool indoors, etc.)”
If you are interested in attending this Day of Reflection, please register yourself and let me know that your are coming. We might ride together and debrief about our experience afterward. Here’s the link: https://www.ignatiushouse.org/calendar/2026/11/02/day-of-reflection-care-of-body-care-of-soul
Jesus said to them, “Come away with me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while” (Mark 6:31a, WE).
…Sue…
P.S. Thank you to all who helped to cover the cost of last night’s overnight retreat for the ISP women recovering from homelessness and addiction. So far, our SueToYou community has donated $1,320, which will be matched by friends of Ignatius House. If you would still like to donate funds to support the Ignatian Spirituality Project retreat, please use this link and identify your intention: “For ISP fall women’s retreat through SueToYou.”
