Good morning…
For the past twenty-four hours, I have been living more in my lungs.
Inhale.
Exhale.
One breath at a time.
Bedding down into my quiet center, I rest at peace with the Giver of each breath.
Now up from my gut a Scripture verse dawns.
“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace” (Matthew 6:6, MSG).
Grace. God’s grace. I begin to sense it. There is nothing I can do to make God love me more. There is nothing I can do to make God love me less. God’s loving grace is constant, irrevocable, independent of me.
This, my friends, is really good news.
For the next twenty-four hours, might we all live more in our lungs?
Inhale.
Exhale.
One breath at a time.
Just be. Here. Simply. Honestly. Our focus shifts from our self to our God.
I have become absolutely convinced that neither death nor life, neither messenger of Heaven nor monarch of earth, neither what happens today nor what may happen tomorrow, neither a power from on high nor a power from below, nor anything else in God’s whole world has any power to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 8:38-39, PHILLIPS).
This, my friends, is really, really good news.
