Good morning…
“It seems to me that the human race, all of us, are being given the choice of two ways,” says John Halsey. “We can go one way, which is ploughing along the road of power, trampling on people, barking like a dog, the way the people in my firm treated their workers. If you choose to go that way, it leads eventually to the bomb and disfiguration and unimaginable horror. The other way we can choose to go is towards Christ, in his littleness and in his suffering and in his way to the cross and in his movement down among the little people and among the poor, and that is the way to his glory. There is Christ in the dazzling brightness of his love. That is the alternative.”
LaTonya Gates, founder and director of PAWkids, traveled to Poland near the war-torn border of Ukraine, to deliver humanitarian aid to strangers in deep need. Ploughing along the road of power. Trampling on people. Bombs, disfiguration, and unimaginable horror. LaTonya saw the ravages of these egocentric ways.
LaTonya herself chooses to walk in the ways of Christ, toward his littleness, his suffering, his movement down among the poor. In her eyes you see the dazzling brightness of God’s abundant love. The tiny journal she brought home for me sweetly, silently says, “The joy of the Lord is truly our strength.” What a marvelous alternative!
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” (Deuteronomy 30:19, NLT).
Small choice by small choice, which way will you go?
