Good morning…
Beneath tonight’s full moon, my mind is filled with prayers for the recovering women safely sleeping at the Ignatius House Retreat Center. I don’t know them by name and I will never meet them on earth, but I know they are precious in the sight of our Lord. Recovering from homelessness and addiction, I imagine that some may have lived on the streets, under bridges, on the move. Some may have been estranged from families, been separated from their children, been mistreated by those wielding power. Living in residential recovery programs now, most share space with several roommates, working to establish healthy habits and hoping to heal from unimaginable hurts.
At this ISP (Ignatian Spirituality Project) retreat, fifteen women are given time, given space, given an opportunity to experience the power of our living God. The sacred grounds of Ignatius House hold them well, offering a chance to breathe fresh air, to be nurtured by nature, to eat good food and bond with new friends.

God’s palpable presence fills the place, and I pray that each woman is saturated by the Spirit as they sleep in freedom. After waking to a new day of self-reflection and learning, may these courageous women return to their ordinary lives, rested and renewed, allowing God’s transformational power to have its way.
Embodying the experience of Philippians 4: 12-13 (CSB), I pray that each woman gradually develops a sense of contentment with her life. I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through him (Christ) who strengthens me.
In the strength of Christ, may we each be filled as we sleep in peace beneath the light of this full “flower” moon.
